Thus in the limit of a pulse of zero width the total photoprocess probability is proportional to the squared number of cycles in the pulse and the squared cosine of the CE phase.

Here we are interested in the dependence of the total photoprocess probability on the parameter n c in the low value region nc ~ 1 and n c ≤ 1. To determine this dependence, we use the above formulas describing photoabsorption in the framework of the local plasma frequency model, and with the atomic electron density in the Lenz–Jensen model. The results of our calculations are given in Figs. 2.5, 2.6, 2.7, and 2.8 for a Lenz–Jensen atom with nuclear charge Z = 30 and normalized total photoabsorption probability determined by
